Camden Art Collection –
Anecdotal Evidence

Every year, Camden Council puts on an exhibition of its Art Collection: 1,000 items, dating from the 1950s to 1980s, including paintings, sculptures and works on paper.

Hidden stories and personal anecdotes often make the memory of an object. For this exhibition I worked with the artist Jonathan Murphy to highlight the stories, that can be found in Camden’s Art Collection.

Having looked after the collection for the last eight years, Murphy’s knowledge is vast — and his unique insight allowed a personal interpretation as he recalls the stories behind the artworks, which appear throughout the exhibition in pairs.
“Pete is able to provide creative answers to difficult questions, and inspire the people and organisations he works with.”

Jonathan Murphy’s unique insight provided a personal interpretation of each piece of art – these stories formed the structure of our exhibition which included films projected into the space (Created by Mack & Co), and writing workshops that invited visitors to make up their own tales based on the curated pieces.
